No, I'll fall asleep here, he said, rising to his feet and rubbing his eyes. He looked back, the night seemed even more brilliant before him. Some strange, intoxicating radiance mingled with the brilliance of the moon. Never before had he seen the like. A silver mist fell over the surroundings. The scent of apple blossoms and night flowers wafted over the land. In amazement, he looked into the still waters of the pond, the old manor's house, overturned, was visible in it clean and in some clear grandeur. Instead of gloomy shutters, cheerful glass windows and doors looked out. Gilding flickered through the clear glass. And it felt like a window had opened. Holding his breath without flinching and without taking his eyes off the pond, he seemed to have moved into its depths and sees a white elbow protruding out of the window; And she sees she shakes her head slightly, she waves, she smiles... His heart began to beat at once... The water trembled and the window closed again. Quietly he moved away from the pond and looked at the house. The gloomy shutters were open; the windows shone in the moonlight. That's how little you need to rely on people's talk, he thought to himself. The house is brand new, the colors are alive, as if today it was painted. Somebody lives here and silently he came closer, but everything was quiet in it. The brilliant songs of the nightingales echoed strongly and sonorously, and when they seemed to die in languor and bliss, the rustling and crackling of grasshoppers or the hum of a marsh bird striking its slippery nose into a wide water mirror was heard. Levko felt a kind of sweet stillness and expanse in his heart.

With amazement, he looked into the still waters of the pond: the old manor's house, overturned, was visible in it clean and in some clear grandeur. Instead of gloomy shutters, cheerful glass windows and doors looked out. Gilding flickered through the clear glass. And then it felt like a window had opened. Holding his breath, without flinching and without taking his eyes off the pond, he seemed to have moved into its depths and sees: a white elbow stuck out in front of the window, then a friendly little head looked out with shining eyes that quietly shone through the dark blond waves of hair, and leaned on elbow. And he sees: she shakes her head slightly, she waves, she smiles... His heart began to beat at once... The water trembled, and the window closed again. Quietly he moved away from the pond and looked at the house: the gloomy shutters were open; the glasses shone at the moon. "That's how little you need to rely on people's talk," he thought to himself. - The house is brand new; the colors are alive, as if it had been painted today. Someone lives here,” and he silently approached closer, but everything was quiet in him. The brilliant songs of the nightingales echoed strongly and sonorously, and when they seemed to die in languor and bliss, the rustling and crackling of grasshoppers or the hum of a marsh bird, striking with its slippery nose into a wide water mirror, was heard. Levko felt a kind of sweet stillness and expanse in his heart.

The title of the book “Preparation for the Olympiads” raises two logical questions: how much special preparation is needed for such a competition of the “cheerful and resourceful” and is it possible, using such a publication, to seriously prepare for the Russian language Olympiad?
The answer to the first question, of course, must be in the affirmative, although the subject Olympiad, even high level, not an exam, the outcome of which sometimes depends on the fate of the student. Firstly, many universities enroll the winners of the All-Russian Olympiads in specialized subjects without exams. Other educational institutions, before the start of admission tests, conduct their own internal Olympiads, the results of which are counted as marks in the entrance exams. So for someone, good preparation for the Olympics can be quite fateful. Secondly, the victories of an applicant at city and regional rounds of subject Olympiads and intellectual marathons are necessarily taken into account by the admission committees and are taken into account when enrolling. And these additional chances should not be neglected.
