Meteor shower October 10

On the night from Friday to Saturday, Ukrainians will be able to see the Orionids meteor shower. Starfall, which goes from October 2 to November 7, will reach its peak on this night. The Orionids, despite not having the highest density, are considered one of the most beautiful meteor showers.

Where and when to watch

The Orionid meteor shower produces an average of 15 meteors per hour. If the weather is favourable, up to 20 shooting stars per hour can be seen at peak times. In order for the starfall to be clearly visible, the sky must be cloudless, it is also desirable that there is no bright Moon - its light will outshine the meteors.

But there are some additional factors. In cities, light pollution, but simply a large amount of light from lanterns, windows of houses and other lights, does not make it possible to see the sky properly. Therefore, it is best to leave the city. Astronomers say that the best time to see the Orionid meteor shower is before dawn.

What does the Oreanids meteor shower look like?

The weather forecast says partly cloudy weather is expected in Kyiv tonight. The moon at the peak of starfall will be below the horizon.

The meteor shower will take place near the constellation Orion. It can be observed in the southern and northern hemispheres.

What is the Orionid meteor shower

The Orionids got their name from the constellation Orion, in which the region of meteor departure is located - above and to the left of the bright star Betelgeuse. The Orionids are associated with Halley's comet. The last time it flew past our planet was in 1986. But particles torn off from it reach the earth's atmosphere twice every year, forming meteor showers. In autumn they are Orionids and in spring they are Aquarids.

Orionid particles are included in earth's atmosphere at a speed of about 66 kilometers per second. When entering the atmosphere, the particles burn up, giving a flash, which is considered a "shooting star". Usually they are white, but sometimes red, blue-green, yellow and orange meteors come across among them.

How starfall affects people

During the phenomenon, people may feel emotional stress. Astrologers recommend restraining all your negative emotions.

People have long believed that shooting stars can make a wish come true - you need to have time to make it while the star is visible in the sky. You can also guess by asking questions that interest you. A positive answer will be a long trail after the fall of a star, a negative answer will be a rapid extinction.

Next Starfalls

This year we will be able to see two more meteor showers - Leonids and Geminids. Leonids are expected November 14-21. The meteor shower will reach its peak around November 16th.

The maximum shooting stars - up to 15-20 meteors per hour - can be seen on Saturday night, when the Moon is below the horizon. The best time to watch the Orionids is from midnight to morning, when the weather is clear.

The inhabitants of the whole Earth will be able to observe the most beautiful astronomical phenomenon.

Although in the countries of the Northern Hemisphere, including Ukraine, where Orion is better visible, a more colorful spectacle awaits people.

You can usually see the Orionids in the period from October 2 to November 7 from midnight to dawn, provided the weather is clear, best of all - outside the city, away from city lights. The meteor shower reaches its climax on October 21–22.

Parts of the Orionid meteor swarm crash into the Earth's atmosphere at a speed of about 66 km/s. Usually they are white, but sometimes red, blue-green, yellow and orange meteors with a brightness of about +2.5 m of magnitude come across among them.

Starfall can be observed without special equipment - flying meteors can be seen with the naked eye.

The best way to see a meteor shower is to make sure you are away from any light source. So find a place to watch the city or in a park, away from street lights.

Spend at least 30 minutes outside to get used to the darkness and enjoy an unforgettable light show!

It is believed that the Orionids are the most beautiful and brightest meteor shower, despite the small number of meteors per hour.

During the fall of the stars, people can feel emotional stress. In this regard, astrologers recommend restraining all your negative emotions, especially anger.

People have long believed that shooting stars can make a wish come true - you need to have time to make it while the star is visible in the sky. You can also guess by asking questions that interest you. A positive answer will be a long trail after the fall of a star, a negative answer will be a rapid fading.

From starfalls to lunar eclipse in August 2017

Starfall, starfall...
Luckily, friends say...

N. N. Dobronravov

August is the time of starfalls. This month, the stars shine brighter than usual in the night sky, and meteors that have not been seen all year are visible. In the coming weeks, residents of all Russian cities will see several amazing astronomical phenomena at once - two bright starfalls and moon eclipse.

Capricornidae

When: beginning of August

The entire last month of summer and another half of September in the night sky you can see a unique meteor shower - the Capricornids. It will be visible near the constellation Capricorn until September 15, but the peak of its activity occurs at the beginning of August, so observations are best made in the first week of the month.

Capricornids can be found in the constellation Capricorn

Although the Capricornids were discovered by the Hungarian astronomer de Concolli as early as 1871, this meteor shower has been little studied. Researchers believe that at the peak of meteor activity, you can see only 5-6 meteors per hour, but they are all very bright and noticeable.

We owe many modern conveniences to space. Starfall claims to be one of the most unusual: astronomers have proven that it consists of three equivalent meteor showers, stretched in different directions: that is why the Capricornids can be observed from anywhere on Earth.
In order to see the meteor shower, you do not need special equipment: it is so bright that it is noticeable from dusk to dawn with the naked eye. Finding the source of the meteor shower in the sky, the constellation Capricorn, is quite difficult, since there is not a single bright star in it. First you need to find the constellation Eagle: in August it is one of the brightest in the sky, and its main star, Altair, forms the Summer-autumn triangle with Vega and Deneb. Under the Eagle is Capricorn - it looks like a big smile. It is here that you can see the Capricornidae. You can watch the meteor shower from the comfort of your home: although Capricorn itself is completely inconspicuous, the meteor shower will be bright and spectacular.

Moon eclipse

At 21.20 on August 7, Moscow time, residents of almost all cities of Russia, except for the Far Eastern Territory, will be able to observe a beautiful and rare phenomenon - a partial lunar eclipse. It got this name because the Moon does not enter the Earth's shadow completely, but only partially. In this case, that part of the Moon, on which the Earth's shadow falls, will look dark, and the rest will be in partial shade and illuminated by the sun's rays.

Residents of almost all Russian cities will see a partial lunar eclipse.

"It will be extraordinary beautiful phenomenon, - notes astronomer Anatoly Ryabtsev. - Interesting fact: at the same time, being on the Moon, you can see a partial eclipse of the Sun by the Earth.

The lunar eclipse will last about 1 hour 55 minutes, and everyone will have time to admire the spectacle seen from the windows of their homes and even take photos. Experts advise: it is best to look at this astronomical phenomenon through a telescope, but even if you do not have special equipment, this event will forever remain in your memory.

Perseids

The Perseids are one of the brightest and most intense starfalls: at the peak of its activity, up to 60 blazing meteors can be seen in the sky in one hour - 1 meteor every minute!

The Perseids are one of the brightest meteor showers.

The meteor shower will last 10 days, from August 10 to 20, but the largest number of meteors will be noticeable from August 12 to 14. You can see them with the naked eye: often shooting stars merge into whole fireballs and lines, which makes the meteor shower surprisingly beautiful and unusual. The Perseids deservedly occupy the first place among all meteor showers in terms of the number of shooting stars and fireballs - giant meteors that shine brighter than Venus.

The Perseids owe their beauty to the comet Swift-Tuttle, through whose tail the Earth passes every year. The smallest particles of the comet's tail, consisting of ice, dust and various cosmic rocks, burn up in the atmosphere and descend to Earth in starfall. The comet itself comes to Earth only once every 135 years, and its next appearance is expected only in 2127, but even a burning plume celestial body looks very impressive: starfall will be appreciated by all astronomy lovers.
You can see a fascinating phenomenon in the sky next to the constellation Perseus. Everyone can find it. To do this, you need to draw an imaginary line from the extreme star of the “bucket handle” of Ursa Major through the North Star. A little higher you will see Cassiopeia - a constellation in the form capital letter W. Directly under this constellation is Perseus, in the area of \u200b\u200bwhich meteors will fall.

STAR RAIN 2017

The Moon will be on the far side of the Earth, fully illuminated by the Sun. This will be the only supermoon in 2017 when the Moon is very close to the Earth.

13–14: Meteor shower.

The Geminid meteor shower is truly the king of all meteor showers. It will be possible to observe up to 120 multi-colored meteors per hour!

Occurs at 16:28 UTC when South Pole The earth will tilt towards the sun. This will be the first day of winter (winter solstice) in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of summer (summer solstice) in the Southern Hemisphere.

21–22: Meteor shower.

The Ursids meteor shower has a frequency of 5 to 10 meteors per hour.

A meteor shower is a spectacular and impressive sight. Knowing the exact date of starfalls in October 2017, you will not miss the opportunity to admire the beauty of this astronomical phenomenon and make a cherished wish.

In October 2017, two meteor showers will pass at once, each of which has a unique intensity and energy. Knowing about the features of starfalls, each person will be able to attract good luck and change their lives for the better.

Draconid meteor shower

This meteor shower is one of the most beautiful and spectacular, as falling meteors take on a yellowish or scarlet color. The fall of individual meteors can be observed already at the beginning of the month, and the peak of intensity falls on the period from 8 to 10 October. However, even at this time the number of "shooting stars" will be small: it will be about 15 meteors per hour. The best time to watch the meteor shower is a couple of hours before dawn.

The source of meteors is located in the constellation Draco, which is why the meteor shower got its name. This constellation will determine the energy features of the meteor shower and its impact on us. The dragon in the Eastern teaching is a symbol of wealth and wisdom, therefore, during the activity of the Draconids, people will have many chances to achieve material well-being, strengthen family and friendship ties, and get rid of everything unnecessary. All desires will have a strong energy supply, so do not miss the opportunity to get closer to the realization of a dream: for example, you can draw up a feng shui wish map. In October, this method will be extremely effective.

Starfall Orionids

The Orionid shower will be active in early October, but the maximum number of meteors will fall from the 20th to the 21st. Despite the fact that the intensity of starfall is low, meteors are distinguished by their brightness and high speed of fall, and therefore visually look like bright instantaneous flashes in the night sky.

The Orionid stream originates in the constellation Orion. According to astrologers, the "militant" constellation leaves a special imprint on people's energy, exacerbating internal contradictions and impulsiveness. However, with the proper level of self-control and the ability to manage emotions, it will be much easier to achieve what you want at this time than usual. The main thing is to avoid the desire to go over your head and not let the excitement overwhelm you.

Knowing when there will be starfalls back in 2017, you can prepare in advance for this event. We wish you well-being and happiness, and do not forget to press the buttons and

Draconids is a periodic meteor shower generated by the tail of comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner. Meteors that fly at high speeds (about 20 km/s) acquire a bright yellow and sometimes red hue.

Due to the bright color, meteors are clearly visible against the dark sky, however, the activity of the stream is different. The most powerful emissions of the so-called "star dust" - up to several thousand meteors per hour - were observed in 1933 and 1946, but usually we are talking about only 20-100 meteors.

It will be possible to start observation on the night of October 8-9, but best time the interval between 4 and 5 o'clock in the morning is considered. The flow rate will be about 10-15 meteors per hour. This is not much when compared with other, more powerful streams, however, this will be enough for a patient observer. It is worth noting that in large cities, due to bright lighting, starfall will be poorly visible.

To admire the stars and take good pictures, you should go to the suburbs. But even there, in relative darkness, you need to give your eyes the opportunity to adapt: for this you need to not look at the light for at least 20 minutes.

If you still need light to move around unfamiliar terrain, you should stock up on red "lanterns". You can make them yourself by putting red wrapping paper on the flashlight.

Other meteor showers in 2017

Almost all of November, the Leonids will be active with a peak of activity on the 14th, and the year will end with the Geminids, who will bring down a hundred meteors on Earth per hour on December 13 and 14. Any such event can be considered a miracle, because the Universe is huge, and fragments of comets or asteroids fly by next to us, with the smallest point in space.

Learn to be patient and wait if you want to see a shooting star. Draconids have a special charm, because they are almost as bright as the Geminids. This is a significant event for astronomy lovers and ordinary observers, as well as scientists.
