MFS-2018 Main Gardens:

James Alexander-Sinclair "Listening garden/listening theater"

The star of landscape fashion, designer James Alexander-Sinclair is the chairman of the jury of the most prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in the world, the favorite of the Queen of England and the permanent head of the jury of the Moscow festival. For the first time in Moscow, he debuts with his garden and this is certainly the event of the year. The name of the garden immediately sets the audience in the right mood - the designer offers to listen to the sounds of nature, to understand how eloquent the language of plants can be, how the play of chiaroscuro in the garden is similar to theatrical effects.

Paul Harvey Brooks. "Garden of Prometheus"

Another famous Briton in the name of his garden makes a direct reference to the myth of Prometheus. Walking through the Paul Brooks garden, visitors can find similarities to the landscape, where mythical hero endured torment for daring to give people fire and independence from the will of the gods.

Ozerova Olga, Dvoryadkina Tatiana. "Over the seas, beyond the forests"

The authors of this garden were inspired by the works of the Russian avant-garde artist Natalya Goncharova and, in particular, her sketches for the opera-ballet The Golden Cockerel. The garden is made in burgundy, ocher and gray-blue palette and takes visitors to the space of creativity and dramaturgy.

Oksana Khleborodova. "VDNH - with love"

The designer was inspired by the pavilion "Floriculture and landscaping", built at the country's main exhibition in the 70s. According to the author, the building delights her with its brutality and boldness of architectural thought. The garden is a fragment of the real environment of the pavilion and possible variant its landscaping.

Kordubaeva Maria, Noskova Oksana, Nikitina Anna. "Tea drinking in Sokolniki"

During the heyday of "tea shops" in Russia in late XIX century, "falconer tea parties" are becoming popular throughout Moscow. In the depths of the parks, so-called "cabinets" were built, where families came with their snacks, and the owners of the "cabinets" provided them with a hot samovar and a kettle.

Lazareva Tatiana, Smirnova Tatiana. Grain De Perle

Garden-tribute to the "people's countess" Praskovya Zhemchugova. 2018 marks exactly 250 years since her birth. Amazing story the love of a serf actress and Count Sheremetyev became the basis for the creation of this garden. In the 18th century, French regular gardens were very popular in Russia with their symmetrical alleys, classic rectangular pond and decorative sculptures. "Grain De Perle" pays tribute to the romantic era and great history love.

Kravchenko Diana, Razevskaya Evelina. "Dream Dive"

One of the most unusual works at the Moscow Flower Show festival. The mystical atmosphere of the garden is created by the concept of refraction of space and the use of wood, stones and light-reflecting materials.

Leontieva Lydia. "Partisan"

The dominant feature of this composition is the sculpture of a partisan girl who stood up for the Motherland. The garden is a flower bulengrin in traditional contrasting colors of the Stalinist Empire style. A unique element of the garden is the lanterns, recreated according to the design of the architect Dmitry Chechulin.

As part of the festival, a botanical exposition was opened in Tsaritsyn, where you can see rare medicinal herbs and shrubs and take part in special excursions.

The "Garden of Medicinal Plants" is located between the First and Second Greenhouse buildings on the territory of the Tsaritsyno park. More than sixty species of herbs and fruit bushes are planted in the garden, beneficial features have long been proven in practice. For example, monarda binata, which the North American Indians have used for centuries as an antiseptic, and modern dentists as the active ingredient in mouthwashes. Or Tibetan lofant - the strongest natural immunostimulant. Or medicinal burnet, which has dozens of names - bloodsucker, arsenic, snake potion, blackhead - and which has a pronounced hemostatic effect. A map of the garden is installed next to the plantings, thanks to which it is easy to navigate. Employees of the Tsaritsyno greenhouses conduct regular tours of the garden. They will talk about each sprout, each planting, explain which herbs are suitable for growing in a country garden, and which ones are needed all year round greenhouse conditions. A tour of the garden will imperceptibly flow into a tour of the Second Greenhouse Building, where rare - native to subtropical latitudes - spicy and fruit plants grow. For example, bay tree, pineapple, eucalyptus, guava, citronella and plectranthus, which is also called "room mint".

Despite such a cool, sometimes harsh summer, surprising with sharp climatic changes, the VI Moscow International Festival of Gardens and Flowers Moscow Flower Show was successfully held in the Museon Park of Arts in Moscow from June 29 to July 9. Rains and thunderstorms did not affect the beauty organized by the festival, which for 6 years of its existence has received the title of the most authoritative platform in the field of Russian landscape design.

Our editors visited the Moscow Festival of Gardens and Flowers, we walked around the entire exhibition and got great aesthetic pleasure. It should be noted that this year more than 200 representatives of the landscape industry from 12 countries of the world took part in the festival.

Those who did not have time to get to the Moscow Flower Show 2017 will be able to enjoy photos of the most interesting, in our opinion, competition works and see the winners of various nominations. The projects were judged by an authoritative international jury, chaired by Royal Horticultural Society Judge James Alexander-Sinclair and Princess Marie-Sol de la Tour d'Auvergne, Vice President of the French Parks and Gardens Foundation.

The photo was taken during a light rain, which did not diminish the beauty of the compositions at all, all plants demonstrate freshness and rich colors that did not have time to fade in the hot sun. Rainy and gloomy evening created a romantic mood. Some projects look like mysterious islands of a fabulous magical forest. Perhaps some ideas can inspire you to organize your own piece of paradise in the countryside.

Happy viewing!
