Language settings
By default, the language selected is the one you specified when you first turned on your new smartphone. I have this Russian language, region Russia.
Additional languages can be added. This will allow the application to use the next language in the list, if your native language not supported.
To add a language, click on “+ Add language”. In total, more than 100 options are available, including Arabic languages.
To set the default language, simply move it to the first position in the list.
To delete a language: long press, select and delete.
Default keyboard
The Samsung keyboard is selected by default. Or another, depending on the manufacturer of your smartphone. As a rule, there is only one keyboard in the firmware, but alternative ones can be installed. Google “keyboards for android phone” online.
This is the keyboard you use when typing on your phone. Alternatively, you can use Google voice input if you have difficulty or don't feel like typing. The Russian language is supported and perfectly recognized. To add/remove another keyboard, click on “+ Manage Keyboards”.
Samsung keyboard
If you select this keyboard, the available settings will open. Let's consider them in detail:
- . These are the available input languages, usually Russian and English. There are 2 types of keyboard available: standard “Qwerty” and “3x4”.
- T9 mode. Intelligent mode, which completes words and phrases, changes them for some reason (autocorrect function). You can create your own shortcuts for frequently used phrases - just enter a shortcut that will be displayed as suggested text. For example, you can set it up so that each time you enter the word “address”, the text “Moscow, st. Tveritina, 5 kv.98”.
Personally, I don't use T9 mode for two reasons: 1) it often changes words when using slang; 2) you need to constantly check what you wrote, otherwise T9 can completely distort the phrase. - . Spelling errors will be underlined in red, and options for the “correct” spelling will be offered. Autocheck only works for the languages that are used on the keyboard.
- Automatic capitalization. The beginning of each sentence begins with capital letter. The rule does not always work with proper names (full name, brand name, company, technology and abbreviations).
- spaces automatically. Automatically inserts a space after adding a word with the help of continuous typing and “prediction” of future text.
- Automatic punctuation. Double-click the space bar to enter a period with a space.
- . Cool feature, but few people use it. You simply slide your finger from one letter to another, and T9 writes entire phrases and sentences for you. Alternatively, you can use the cursor: move your finger over the letters, and to select text, touch the Shift key and drag your finger (does not work everywhere).
- . Sets the display size, show or hide number keys and alternate characters, and set special characters.
- Feedback when pressed. Enable sound and enlarged view of pressed letters, symbols and emoji.
- Contrasting keyboard. To improve visibility, the size and color of the keyboard is changed (to more contrasting ones).
- Reset to default values. Resets all your keyboard settings to factory defaults.
- About the keyboard. Here you can see the current version of the installed keyboard and update it if necessary.
Google voice input
Alternatively, voice input can be used instead of the keyboard. Here are the basic settings for better recognition of your voice and error-free typing:
Physical keyboard
It is possible to connect an external wireless keyboard to the phone via bluetooth or wi-fi. This is necessary if you have to type a lot, and using virtual keyboard is not always convenient.
How to change the language on Android is a question, without an answer to which it is difficult to perform standard operations for the user. If a person uses an old phone model that has a keypad, you need to act through the keys. The options are similar to those used on a PC. Offered here the following options to change language:
- Ctrl+Space;
- Alt+Shift.
If none of the presented switching options gives a positive result, you will need to download a third-party Russian Keyboard application.
This is a virtual keyboard, which, despite its not very attractive appearance, has one feature here. It allows the user to comfortably work with an external keyboard, switch the required layouts on it.
The language on the Android keyboard does not change: the main reasons
